Overview
It is 1941 and for the second summer in a row, World War II looms over the lives of those in Denmark. Edward Weyse, Georg Madsen and other regulars at Andersens Seaside Hotel find it harder and harder to ignore the war as manager Amanda Madsen opens the hotel's doors again for the new season.
Episodes
1. We're Not Talking About That
It's 1941 and the Germans have seized the neighboring hotel, but that does not keep the regulars away. As Weyse says: "If we just pretend they are not there, then they are not there".
2. Chocolate and Whipped Cream
Amanda manages to get the barbwire off her beach but only by making a compromise. Weyse's memoirs suffer from writer's block. Claus reveals himself to Bertha. Alice and Bertha fetch the mysterious bag.
3. The Letter
Weyse thinks he has found the right person to write his memoirs for him. But sometimes you get more help than you have asked for. Madsen mails a letter for a German soldier.
4. Something for Something
Amanda welcomes the Molin couple, but she also ends up in a dilemma as she receives a small gift from Lieutenant Kiessling and is forced to lie to the guests.
5. The Mine
A detached German sea mine is washed ashore near the hotel; the beginning of a dramatic end for all of the guests' summer holiday.
