With the "Coast Starlight" from Amtrack a train journey is made along the coast of California. The journey goes from Los Angeles, with a visit to the seaside town of Santa Monica and Hollywood, to San Luis Obispo and then to San Francisco with the Golden Gate Bridge, where with one of the oldest and shortest cable railways is the "Angels Flight", and the famous Cable Cars. The end point of the trip is Sacramento where the sea lions are visited and the Union Pacific Railroad makes a trip along the Sacramento River.

The starting point of this trip is Oslo, where a visit is made to a ski jumping competition in Holmenkollen and to the sculpture park with work by Gustav Vigeland. From Myrdal a trip to Flam with the Aurlandfjord. From Myrdal to Flam, the train descends zigzagging 865 meters and passes twenty tunnels. The city of Bergen is the end point of the journey.

The starting point of this trip with the Rocky Mountaineer starts in the most westerly state of Canada: British Columbia and goes via Vancouver to the gold digger place Kamloops. From there it goes further to Banff, which is a thousand kilometers to the east. This place has grown from a small railway village to the heart of the Rocky Mountains.

With the tourist train Steam Ranger, the journey from Goolwa (near Adelaide) to the seaside resort of Victoria Harbor is undertaken. The journey then takes the horse-drawn tram to Granite Island and the Murray River is visited, after which the journey with Indian Pacific continues to the gold-digger town of Kalgoorlie. The last part of the trip goes to Perth and Freemantle.
