The first leg of the trip is relived through the eyes of Chantelle Tagoe, fiancee of England striker Emile Heskey. In her first work placement at Baphumelele Children's Home in the heart of the crime-ridden Khayelitsha township, Chantelle is asked to work punishing shifts caring for children orphaned by AIDS. It's here that she begins to question the huge sums of money footballers are paid and how better they could spend it. But it is when Chantelle travels to Johannesburg to live and work in a church that acts as a shelter for 3,000 homeless people each night that she decides to financially change the life of one orphan boy.

Elen Rivas, ex-partner of Frank Lampard, relives her experiences in Johannesburg, one of the world's most dangerous cities. In her first work placement Elen is tasked with venturing into some of Johannesburg's notorious brothels. Her job is to teach HIV awareness to some of the thousands of prostitutes who make a living in the city centre. On one of these visits Elen succeeds in rescuing a prostitute from a brothel and re-homing her in a woman's shelter.

Amii Grove relives her experiences, beginning in Khayelitsha, a crime-ridden township in Cape Town, where she gives comfort to a 13-year-old girl who is ill after having been raped. But on the last leg of the trip where she is expected to work as a foster mum to 13 children orphaned by AIDS, Amii finds the experience more than she can cope with.

Imogen Thomas relives her experiences and tells how the trip has motivated her to get involved with charitable work closer to home.
