Jürgen Sternow, head of the cyber crime department at the Kiel State Criminal Police Office, was the victim of a murder attack. It is reasonable to assume that the perpetrator is to be found in the area of rapidly growing cybercrime. Commissioners Borowski and Brandt are entrusted with the investigation by the responsible public prosecutor. While Borowski first has to acquire special technical knowledge, Sarah Brandt is in her element as a former hacker. But how do you hunt a perpetrator who has no relation to the victim and who knows all the tricks to hide in the Darknet?

A man is thrown from a bridge and run over by a lorry. Investigations show that he was dead before falling. Cologne DIs Ballauf and Schenk proceed to investigate the neighbourhood where the man had lived. The neighbours have all kinds of relationships: quarrel over a boundary, fathership of another's daughter... but where is a motive for murder?

Verena Schneider is found dead by a neighbor. The trail quickly leads to architect Thomas Jacobi. Apparently, the two had a fight shortly before the crime. But Jacobi has an alibi. He was with his family doctor at the time of the crime. When she turns up dead shortly thereafter and it turns out that she was not only his doctor but also his lover, the suspicion against him is confirmed. And yet another woman appears, desperately vying for Jacobi's attention…and another…and another. Inspectors Batic and Leitmayr.

There is a state of emergency shortly before the Kiel Week. Three million guests from all over the world are expected to celebrate the largest summer festival in Northern Europe. Now, of all times, a treacherously murdered woman is found in an empty apartment in the middle of the city center. There is no trace of the perpetrator, who had evidently set himself up in hiding for months. When inspector Borowski looks around the victim's apartment, he suddenly finds himself in front of a wall of fire. Roman Eggers and the inspector face each other for a moment. Eggers tries desperately to annihilate the consequences of his crime - and saves Borowski at the last moment. Then he disappears into the anonymity of the city, which is slowly filling up with people. When another body is found, Borowski and Brandt are alarmed: Are they dealing with a serial killer?

Long-distance bus driver Beni Gisler sees the man on the bridge, but there is nothing he can do. The body hits the windshield and is thrown away. In his previous life, Gisler was a train driver and was involved in suicides several times. The latest incident therefore brings back traumatic memories. Inspector Flückiger knows Gisler from his time in the military. Supported by the psychologist responsible for the care team, he takes Gisler under his wing. It soon turns out that the dead man had a high dose of benzodiazepine in his blood. Under these circumstances, it would have been impossible for him to throw himself off the bridge alone. The identity of the possible victim also raises questions. Inspector Flückiger and colleague Liz Ritschard begin to investigate.
