When a truck is robbed, one of the drivers is killed and another is seriously injured. The investigations always lead Lena Odenthal and Mario Kopper back to the shipping company, because it quickly becomes apparent that there was an informant within the company. To ensure that nothing is swept under the rug, the "Internal Investigations" department intervenes: Samland, who worked for the motorway police, was involved in illegal dealings with the underworld, claims Detective Inspector Brauer. He takes over the case from the homicide squad.
