Episode one follows Beirut based video journalist Sophie McNeill. At only 23, Sophie is one of the new breed of video journalists working for SBS' news and current affairs program, Dateline. This episode follows Sophie during a potentially dangerous trip to Kurdistan and Northern Iraq to meet the people of Sinjar, a small village that suffered one of the world's most horrific yet under reported terrorist attacks of the last decade.
