Following a liver transplant, an operation to remove a rare cancer of the soft palette, and a particularly nasty open fracture of a woman's lower leg.

3. Episode 3
If surgeons don't operate on Pratyush soon, his tumour could push him into a coma, before killing him. Mariella needs a ground-breaking procedure for a recurring bowel cancer.

4. Episode 4
Laura, 29, has an incurable brain tumour. To extend her life, she needs it removed. But the hugely risky surgery will have a drastic effect on her memory and may even kill her.

5. Episode 5
A risky operation on a 66-year-old's massive aortic aneurism, a complicated procedure to remove an angiosarcoma, and an operation which carries a significant risk of facial paralysis.

6. Episode 6
Gary has a rare tumour lodged in his spine. Leaving it in place will probably lead to paralysis, but an operation carries a huge risk. Margaret has developed a spontaneous hole in her skull.
