Rainbow Round My Shoulder

Bong is not keen in his studies but likes to draw comic strips. His brother, Kwok, graduated from medical school and is an intern in the hospital. Kwok buys a new apartment and the whole family happily moves in. TSUI stops to pick up a football for BONG on her way to the examination hall and arrives after the examination has begun. TSUI's father, FAN, who happens to be BONG's teacher, punishes BONG. BONG picks up a used set of sofa from his uncle HONG's home, and is looked down upon by HONG's family. He also feels that his parents are neglecting him.

BONG has no luck in his job-hunting. He visits his good friend KEN, who gives him some words of encouragement. CHING comes to visit KEN's sister, LAM, who is not at home. The two mischievous young men lie to CHING that LAM is at a town in the country-side, whereby CHING goes to look for her. BONG attends an interview for a clerical assistant in a factory and meets TSUI, who is applying for the post of junior secretary. He is surprised to learn that CHING is the department manager and is certain that he will not get the job. Surprisingly, both BONG and TSUI are hired. TSUI falls in love with MAN, the factory's sales manager. But BONG and KEN are also fond of her. HONG, who is a senior manager at the factory, is not satisfied with the performance of BONG, TSUI and CHING.
